Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 25, 2026

L'chaim ("the app", "we", "us") is a daily Jewish learning app published by Zach Rivkin. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what choices you have. We try to keep this short and in plain English, because a privacy policy nobody reads protects nobody.

What we collect

Account information you give us during onboarding:

If you sign in with Apple: Apple shares a stable user identifier with the app. The first time you sign in, Apple may also share your name and email if you choose to (you can also choose to hide your email and Apple will give us a relay address). We never receive your Apple ID password.

App activity:

Subscription data: If you purchase L'chaim Plus, your purchase is processed by Apple and verified by RevenueCat, our subscription management provider. We receive a subscription status (active, expired, trial) and a receipt identifier. We do not see, store, or process your credit card or Apple ID password.

City selection (only if you turn on Shabbat mode): We store the city you pick on your device, so we can compute candle-lighting and havdalah times locally. We do not auto-detect your location and we do not send your city to any server.

What we do not collect:

How we use it

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with anyone other than the service providers listed below, who process it on our behalf under their own privacy policies.

Service providers

Where data lives

App state lives on your device, mirrored to our backend on Cloudflare's infrastructure (which is geographically distributed). We use a hashed identifier as your sync key — never your raw email.

Your rights

You can delete your account from inside the app at any time: Settings Delete Account. This removes your local state, signs you out of Apple if you used Sign in with Apple, and asks our backend to delete your synced data.

You can also email us at support@lchaimstudio.com with any privacy-related request — including:

We respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR / UK GDPR / CCPA — contact us and we will honor them.

Children

L'chaim is rated 9+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please email us and we will delete it.

Security

We use HTTPS for all network traffic. We do not store passwords (we rely on Sign in with Apple or email-only onboarding, with no password). Our backend hashes your email before it is used as a sync key. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not store anything we do not need.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy materially, we will note the change at the top of this page and, if it affects how we use existing data, we will let you know inside the app.
